Savory
It is used in cooking as flavor enhancer. It stimulates the appetite and has hot and peppery taste. Fits particularly with beans and legumes in general. It can be used sparingly in salads too.
Thyme
On the one hand it is used in cooking as a spice mostly in meat, poultry and fillings. And on the other hand is rich in medicinal properties since soothes sore throat, colds, flu and cough.
Specifically thyme contains two basic components: thymol and carvacrol. Both the former and particularly the first one is antibacterial and antifungal. As a solution for mouthwashes and / or gargles is excellent remedy against sore throats and gingivitis.As hot beverage is diaphoretic and therefore effective against the common cold. It is generally used as an insect repellent, but it also has excellent healing properties. As warm decoction calms the symptoms of cold and flu as it acts diaphoretic. Also itcontributes to menstruation because it helps in treating the symptoms of dysmenorrhea by facilitating the bleeding. Its use is prohibited for pregnant women or when pregnancy is expected.
Sage
It is widely used in cooking with pork and poultry. The Latin botanical name Salvia, however, signaled also its importance as a remedy, as derives from the Latin verb salvare = save. As hot beverage is a prime remedy for colds. It is antibacterial acting especially against staphylococcus and is a powerful antiseptic. The sage beverage combined with cider vinegar used as gargle is excellent for sore throats, laryngitis and also tonsillitis. As mouthwash is effective against gingivitis and oral ulcers. Also relieves from gases and stimulates digestion. In addition boosts the weakened nervous system. Another remarkable property of it is that it stops sweating. Its estrogenic properties make it useful for the treatment of hot flushes during menopause. Previously it was also used to stop lactation in nursing mothers. It is beneficial in cases of amenorrhea and painful menstruation.

Daphne
