Propolis: The mightiest nature’s antibiotic.
Its name originates from the greek words pro (=before, in front of) + polis (=city) = before the city or in the front of the city. The ancient Greeks observing this strange substance that the bees were placing in the entrance of their hive-city in order to protect it from the enemies, called it “propolis” yielding accurately its defensive properties. Nowadays propolis keeps internationally that wise name “propolis” remanding us its exceptional properties.
Propolis originates from a thin resinous membrane with which the plants cover the most sensitive of their parts. That membrane is collected by the bees every spring mostly from willow and poplar trees. The bees use it as a waterproofing, sterilizing and antiseptic material. Meaning that with propolis they cover cracks and unnecessary holes in the hive, prepare the royal sells and cover every surface that could be a source of disease or sepsis.
It consists of pollen, essential oil, beeswax, resins, balsam and other inorganic and organic substances. Is rich in amino acids, trace elements, bio-flavins, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, silicon, phosphorus and many other unknown ingredients and compounds that work in combination creating a real miracle.
